Facilities Technician

Under general supervision, this position is primarily responsible for the maintenance and successful, productive and efficient operation of all facilities equipment. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, calibration, movement, installation, troubleshooting, and repair as well as facility evaluation in preparation of new equipment. The overlying function for this position is support and optimization for production and R&D activities related to facilities equipment. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Performs mechanical, electrical, welding, plumbing, and carpentry installation and repairs of facilities equipment.
  • Defines, performs, and schedules PM activities for equipment.
  • Helps establish and maintain all equipment maintenance logs.
  • Performs equipment upgrades and installations to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Ensures all activities are completed in a timely and correct manner.
  • Assists with maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory for all equipment.
  • Assists and coordinates with outside contractors as needed.
  • Complies with all provisions of lock out / tag out program and ensures all contractors comply with the program.
  • Monitor and respond to issues in the Building Management System
  • Lead or Provide support for energy reduction programs
  • Provide direction as needed to internal and contracted maintenance resources performing activities related facility maintenance
  • Assist the EHS analyst with implementation of environmental health and safety initiatives and the completion of environmental health and safety maintenance activities. 
  • Comply with requirements of the Quality and Environmental Management Systems. 

Skills & Abilities 

  • Must be able to lift, push, bend, and stand for up to 8 hours a day.  Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.  May be exposed to fumes, electrical and chemicals. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Will consider applicants that have a minimum of two (2) plus years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • High mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Hands on experience with electrical, electromechanical, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatic installation and repair or equivalent
  • Requires a working knowledge of HVAC, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Heat Pumps and other facilities equipment.
  • May occasionally be required to work overtime.

Education/Experience Requirements 

  • Typically requires an associate’s degree (Mechanical or Electrical Technology), or high school education or equivalent and 6-7 years of hands on experience with electrical, electromechanical, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatic installation and repair or equivalent.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, competitive benefits package, and relocation assistance.
