AMS Technician

Job Description:

The AMS Technician will assemble and test mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies for the AMS (Analytical Mass Spectrometer) instruments in a cleanroom environment. Additional roles include providing technical support and troubleshooting of the mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies and manufacturing equipment.  

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and assemble precision mechanical, eletromechanical, and vacuum components using fixtures and alignment tools as required.  
  • Perform verification testing on AMS sub-assemblies produced, ensuring specifications are met.
  • Test AMS modules and systems to ensure that performance specifications and application specific requirements are met.
  • Assemble, repair and rework units efficiently with minimal supervision, while producing an output that is thorough and exact. 
  • Support other areas of the AMS group as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or applicable discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly. 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail required. 
  • Must be capable of reading engineering drawings and assembly specifications.
  • Must have ability to measure complex mechanical components.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fully participate in all team activities and support INFICON management systems.
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity to assemble delicate components.  Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a cleanroom production environment is preferred.
  • Operation of mass spectrometer or related instrumentation equipment is preferred.
  • Basic theory and understanding of mass spectrometers components (quadrupole sensor, RF generator, and controller) and ultra high vacuum (UHV) equipment is preferred.
  • Analytical chemistry background is preferred.
  • Literacy in SAP is preferred.
